MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Position requires an in-depth mechanical skills of this type are typically acquired through previous experience managing equipment processes in a plastics manufacturing setting. The position takes and active role in production process by assisting the supervisor in leading, training, and directing the daily workflow.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Principal job duties of the Production Specialist include:
o Leadership in awareness and compliance of all EHS systems.
o Coaching and Teaching (Floor Leadership)
o Autonomous Maintenance
o Resource person to support equipment in all phases of manufacturing to achieve proper and efficient running conditions to meet defined performance levels.
o Operates equipment to test its function and performance.
o Decision-making exercised in areas authorized.
o Investigate and identify areas for improvement regarding specific process metrics.
o Understands all quality standards and how to measure dimensional and functional aspects of the product
o Collaborate with quality and engineering departments to enhance equipment standardization and performance.
o Utilizes SPC and process quality deployment techniques to enhance existing processes, i.e. reliability, scrap
o reduction, process speed improvement, quality, process control and process improvement.
o Troubleshoots problems to find “root” causes.
o Performs equipment preventative maintenance inspections and initiates work orders.
o Assists in enabling crew breaks.
o Assist Supervisor with scheduling OT and Shop Floor systems.
o Assist Supervisor in ensuring shifts 100% completion of monthly EHS/Quality indicators.
o Performs tiered audits in Production.
• Back-up supervisor for crew duties include:
o Schedules production jobs.
o Ensures all production employees follow EHS standards.
o Ensures all production employees follow Quality standards
o Ensures focus on priority jobs, and sends out production shift report.
o Keeps Production Area Supervisor informed of production activities.
o Ensure that, where applicable, the supply chain is made aware of their food safety obligations as our partner in the quest to deliver a safe product to the consuming public.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES;
May perform as acting supervisor in accordance to business needs.

EDUCATIONAL AND OTHER SKILL REQUIREMENTS;
• High school diploma or GED certification perferred; however, three to five years previous experience in manufacturing systems, process flow management, and data entry; previous mechanical skill experience could substitute for high school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrates technical background with the ability to develop skills in SPC techniques.
• Ability to make decisions through data analysis and computer utilization.
• Five to seven years’ experience from on-the-job training programs and operational experience.
• High degree of understanding regarding the closure manufacturing process, use of tools, and devices to repair and maintain equipment and facilities.
• Must be conversant with mechanical principles and technical data in order to troubleshoot, perform and follow specific activities to enhance the process and train others to understand and operate equipment
• Strong knowledge of Injection/Compression Molding process including closure processing parameters.
• Broad knowledge of Injection/Compression Molders, auxiliary equipment, and raw materials used in the process.
• Excellent understanding of quality standards and process defects.
• Ability to adapt to continuing changes in manufacturing process and product technology and requirements.
• Willing to assume responsibility for prescribed quality, machines, and material standards.
• Excellent human relations and communication skills for training others on manufacturing process, technology, and procedures.
• Visual acuity and need for attention to detail.
• Understands the principle of customer satisfaction, and the capability of meeting those needs.
• Completes and passes competency testing on mold, liner, or compression changes.
• Completes and passes competency training and testing on Injection/Compression Theory.
• Completes and passes competency training and testing on vision systems.
• Intermediate computer experience is required.
• Knowledge related to creation of HFI.
• Ability to start up any process.
• Position requires the certification to operate mobile equipment. The certification process requires passing a physical, drug screen.
• Position requires the employee to be trained in the use of walk behind type lifts. The employee must pass both a written and driving test. LTTV training and certification is required.
• Incident investigation training.
• In depth mechanical abilities.
• Crane training and certification is required.
• Complete New Supervisor training to prepare for acting supervisor requirements.
• Locate information on an electronic data base of controlled documents, procedures, training, etc.; ability to focus on details for long periods of time; internal and external customer service is required

POSITION DEMANDS:
• Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality. This is a requirement of this position.
• Ability to engage in shift work. Employees in this area will be assigned to shifts, day or night work, on 12 hour shifts.
• Ability to stand, bend, walk, twist, squat, kneel, push, pull, crawl, balance, reach overhead.
• Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to perform repetitive light upper extremity work.
• Ability to ascend/decent ladders and stairs.
• Ability to use and work near power tools, manufacturing equipment, utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ability to stand for a sustained period of time throughout a 12 hour workday.
• Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to engage in shift work.
• Customer Interaction required. This position has both internal and external customers, so positive communication is required at all times, both written and verbal.
• Teamwork is required of all employees in the facility including positive team communications, conflict management, problem solving, and following principles, policies, and values in the employee handbook and the facility’s controlled documents.
• Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment/clothing: All hourly CSI employees in the Kilgore, TX facility are required to wear T-shirt uniforms, pants in good repair, ANSI Z41.1991 Safety Shoes, ANSI Z87.1 Safety Glasses, Approved eyewear, hairnets, gloves, and safety vests in specific applications following our GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) policies. All Salaried employees must also comply with these standards while on the manufacturing floor except the T-shirt uniform requirement.

What physical requirements are expected of this position?

[0] Light Work: Lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or minimum amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls require exertion of forces greater than that of Sedentary Work and the employee sits most of the time, the job is rated as Light Work.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:*
The work environment includes exposure to Operating machinery in a manufacturing environment, constant noise, grease, dirt or oil. Constant exposure to moving parts and equipment requires high degree of caution and safety to avoid minor or serious injury. Temperature regulated work environment in production areas; however, occasional work in the non-temperature regulated warehouse may be required.
