CSI is looking for a product design engineer to join the CSI Capping engineering team producing production capper designs to meet customer needs, conversion designs for the installed customer base and spare parts research and technical service support.
The individual will have the responsibility of improving legacy products already in the market as well as creating new products. In this role, one will get experience working closely with multi-disciplinary teams, including customers, commercial sales, spare parts sales and technical sales. The candidate will be responsible for providing production designs and documentation. The candidate will lead the technical activities (design, manufacturing, testing, problem solving, etc) as part of daily activities. The successful candidate will interact with individuals with varying levels of expertise as well as individuals within different geographic regions.
A product engineer’s responsibilities include:
- Confirm all requirements are defined to achieve a successful product.
- Understand what is valued by the customer and what unmet needs are present in key markets
- Develop the technical strategy and tactics to execute the plan to meet and exceed the requirements listed on the technical scorecard
- Generate the final designs using engineering tools
- Conduct product testing as required to support new product designs.
- Use of a systematic, innovative methodology for problem solving
- Work with manufacturing and regional team for the deployment of the product.
- Create and Document Standards for machinery designs that will work to further improve delivery efficiencies and enhance our current product offering.
- Fulfill Production Engineering Requirements per Schedule, to meet expectations of our Customers
- Provide timely responses to Sales / Service questions, issues. Work direct with Sales and Service Engineers to support sales and service of new and existing equipment.
- Accountability for the results of their work
Qualifications
- B.S. or an M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline with 3 to 10 years mechanical design and/or engineering experience.
- Fluent in 3D modeling (Solid Works is a plus)
- Knowledge of the packaging industry a plus.
- Hands-on and creative approach to problem-solving
- Ability to understand underlying physics and create cause and effect model
- Intellectual curiosity, innovative outlook, and ability to develop new design concepts
- Knowledge of Design of Experiments, Concept of Robustness and Optimization a plus
- Time management skills with proven track record of successfully completing projects on time.
- Experience with FEA is a plus
- Ability to see the ‘Big Picture’ and organize and focus activities around diverse project needs
- Good interpersonal communication skills for working within a matrix team environment
