The HR Operations Manager is responsible for leading and continuously improving the company's HR operational infrastructure, including payroll administration, HR systems, compliance, workforce reporting, employee data management, and process standardization. This role serves as the central owner of HR operational excellence, ensuring scalable, compliant, and efficient processes across multiple business entities and locations.

The HR Operations Manager partners closely with Human Resources, Finance, and business leaders to establish consistent practices, strengthen compliance, improve workforce data visibility, and support organizational growth. The role will be instrumental in developing standardized HR processes, governance, and reporting capabilities that support both organic growth and future acquisitions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

HR Operations & Process Standardization

  • Develop and implement standardized HR processes, policies, workflows, and documentation across all business entities.
  • Establish governance and controls for employee lifecycle transactions, including hiring, onboarding, compensation changes, and separations.
  • Lead HR operational improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, consistency, scalability, and compliance.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process automation and workflow optimization.
  • Support the development and execution of company-wide HR policies and practices.

Payroll Administration & Governance

  • Partner with Finance and payroll providers to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll administration.
  • Maintain payroll controls, audits, and governance processes to support data integrity and compliance.
  • Support payroll system enhancements and continuous process improvements.
  • Serve as a liaison between HR, Finance, and payroll vendors to resolve issues and improve service delivery.

HR Compliance & Audit Readiness

  • Oversee HR records management, document retention, compliance tracking, and audit readiness.
  • Conduct periodic audits of HR processes and practices and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and recommend updates to policies, procedures, and practices.

HR Systems & Technology

  • Serve as the primary administrator and business owner for HRIS and related HR technology platforms.
  • Manage system configuration, security, reporting structures, workflows, and data governance.
  • Lead system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure data integrity, system effectiveness, and user adoption through training and support.

Workforce Planning, Metrics & Business Analytics

  • Own workforce reporting, HR metrics, and executive dashboards across all business entities.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations to support workforce planning, headcount forecasting, and labor analysis.
  • Analyze workforce trends and provide actionable insights related to staffing, turnover, overtime, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Develop standardized reporting packages for executive leadership and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Support organizational design, position control, and labor cost management initiatives.

Employee Data & Records Management

  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, and security of employee data across all HR systems.
  • Maintain personnel records, organizational charts, position control records, and workforce data.
  • Establish standards for data governance, recordkeeping, and document retention.
  • Support reporting, audit, and business information requests.
Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field required.

Experience

  • 7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in HR Operations, HRIS, Compliance, Payroll Administration, or related operational HR functions.
  • Experience supporting multi-site and multi-state operations.
  • Strong experience with HR systems, reporting, workforce analytics, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, industrial, or private equity-backed environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting organizational growth, acquisitions, or systems implementations strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of HR operations, employment compliance, and workforce administration.
  • Working knowledge of payroll processes, controls, and reporting.
  • Advanced HRIS administration and systems management experience.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and data visualization capabilities.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to design and implement scalable processes and operational frameworks.
  • Strong attention to detail and process discipline.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to analyze workforce data and translate findings into actionable business insights.
  • High degree of discretion and confidentiality.

Work Conditions

  • Ability to work onsite, including hours outside of a normal working day, to support production schedules, customer commitments, and critical business needs.
  • Ability to safely perform the physical demands of a manufacturing environment, including prolonged walking, occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), and the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
