At Torngat Metals, we are developing the Strange Lake project to meet the urgent global demand for responsibly sourced rare earths that are essential to the energy transition. We are currently seeking talented individuals who are eager to contribute to our highly strategic project and play a role in shaping a resilient and responsible rare earth industry in Canada.

Torngat Metals is seeking a qualified Wildlife Monitor to support field activities at the Strange Lake project site. Reporting to the Camp Supervisor and working closely with field teams and local communities, this role is responsible for supporting environmental monitoring, wildlife protection, and the integration of Indigenous knowledge into field operations. This position plays a key role in ensuring responsible and respectful operations on the land.

Role Impact:

This position is at the core of our environmental and social commitments and directly contributes to:

  • Protection of biodiversity, including iconic species such as caribou and their habitats
  • Operational safety
  • Integration of Indigenous knowledge


What You’ll Do:

  • Observe, document, and report wildlife activity in camp and exploration areas
  • Maintain a proactive presence to help prevent wildlife–operation interactions
  • Advise field teams on safe practices in the presence of wildlife
  • Support the implementation of environmental mitigation measures
  • Contribute to the integration of traditional knowledge into monitoring practices
  • Produce daily observation reports and flag any risk situations
  • Collaborate with environmental and health & safety teams


What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience or strong interest in wildlife, land-based work, and northern environments
  • Knowledge of the local territory and/or traditional practices (strong asset)
  • Good judgment, autonomy, and strong sense of responsibility
  • Ability to work in remote locations and variable weather conditions
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Physical ability to work outdoors for extended periods
