At Torngat Metals, we are developing the Strange Lake project to meet the urgent global demand for responsibly sourced rare earths that are essential to the energy transition. We are currently seeking talented individuals who are eager to contribute to our highly strategic project and play a role in shaping a resilient and responsible rare earth industry in Canada.
Torngat Metals is seeking a qualified Accounts Payable Administrator to join its team located in Montreal. Reporting to the Controller, this role is responsible for the management of cash disbursements and financial analyses of accounts. The role will evolve with the project’s advancement into operations.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage day-to-day accounts payable activities, including invoice processing, payment execution, and vendor account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal policies
- Act as a key support to the Controller in managing cash disbursements and short-term cash flow visibility
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders, resolving discrepancies and responding to inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Record and reconcile payroll-related entries and employee expense reports
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and support month-end and year-end close activities
- Prepare and analyze financial reports and schedules to support internal reporting and management decision-making
- Contribute to financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and ad-hoc reporting as the organization evolves toward operations
- Support the improvement, documentation, and implementation of accounting processes and internal controls as the company scales
- Assist with the maintenance and optimization of the accounting system (SAGE 50), including data integrity and reporting enhancements
- Participate in finance-related projects, including system upgrades, process automation, and the future transition to more advanced financial systems
- Provide flexible support across the finance function in a dynamic, project-based environment
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Minimum of three (3) years of accounting experience, including at least one (1) year of hands-on experience in accounts payable processing, vendor management, and account reconciliations
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting processes
- Experience working with accounting systems such as SAGE 50 or similar software
- Solid Excel skills and comfort working with financial data and reconciliations
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Analytical mindset with an interest in developing financial analysis and reporting skills
- Ability to work effectively in a lean organization and adapt to evolving processes and priorities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions
- Proactive, dependable, and motivated to grow within a finance function as the company advances toward operations
- Bilingual (French and English), both written and spoken
