At Torngat Metals, we are developing the Strange Lake project to meet the urgent global demand for responsibly sourced rare earths that are essential to the energy transition. Torngat Metals is looking for a Manager, Community Relations and Communications based in Sept-Îles. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the successful candidate will be responsible for Torngat Metals’ community engagement activities in Sept-Îles and will play a key role in the local community relations office. The role will evolve as the rare earth separation plant project, planned for the Pointe-Noire area of Sept-Îles, progresses toward its operational phase.
What you’ll do
- Represent the company in the region and manage the local community relations office.
- Lead, develop, and maintain relationships with citizens, municipal officials, Indigenous communities, as well as local and regional organizations and partners.
- Conduct consultation activities, public communications, and community relations initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze the region’s sociopolitical dynamics to identify issues, risks, and business opportunities for the company.
- Ensure the implementation of the company’s community investment plan in the region.
What we’re looking for
- At least 10 years of experience in community relations management.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to bring together stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of sociopolitical issues.
- Knowledge of local and regional authorities.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Previous experience in the industrial or mining sector.
- Fluency in French; bilingualism is an asset.
- Ability to use Microsoft 365 (e.g., PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
