Position Overview

This Engineering Intern position temporarily supports the NPI Engineering group to transfer new and revised product designs and processes to manufacturing. Position is focused on the area of Undersea Network Elements (repeaters, BU’s, ROADMs). This is a temporary position for the months of May through August. Reports to Director NPI Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Specification and drawing review; review of product materials, dimensions, tolerances, and requirements

• Assist with testing and trials to build and qualify new products.

• Collect trial and test data to help determine process and product capabilities

• Statistical analysis of data.

• Document writing, could include Requirements Documents, Reports, Material Specifications, Non-conforming Material Reports, temporary process instructions.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years post-secondary education in an engineering discipline, preferably in mechanical, plastics, or chemical engineering

• Prior experience in manufacturing a plus

• Mathematical and analytical skills required to perform technical duties

• Basic computer skills (Word, Excel) writing instructions and reports

• Additional computer skills with Project, PowerPoint, Access and Oracle would be a plus

• Willingness to learn manufacturing processes and theory of operation of undersea cable systems
