Position Overview
The Security Specialist works under the guidance of the Senior Global Security Manager or their designee and will perform the tasks required in the day-to-day security administration, management, and operations for his or her assigned division. The Security Specialist is responsible for assisting Security Managers and the Senior Global Security Manager in maintaining a secure environment for the execution of work in a controlled facility. The Security Specialist must hold a security clearance equal to or greater than the highest clearance level of their assigned division.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the administration and maintenance of additional access security policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with the approved regulations.
- Review and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and security plans (e.g. Program Security Plans, Standard Practice Procedures).
- Ensure proper security classification markings, safeguarding, transmission, storage, and destruction of classified materials.
- Conduct initial and annual security training and briefings, including indoctrinations and debriefings for personnel with additional access.
- Coordinate access requests, visit authorizations, and personnel security actions in support of additional access programs.
- Monitor and maintain physical security measures secure areas, including intrusion detection systems and access control.
- Assist with security audits, self-inspections, and customer security reviews and assessments.
- Interface with customer security representatives and participate in security meetings.
- Investigate and report security incidents, violations, and compromises, following established protocols.
- Maintain personnel security files, additional access program rosters, and related documentation in secure formats.
- Assist with Personnel Security responsibilities within the Nomination, Indoctrination, and Foreign Travel processes.
- Ensure that personnel processed for additional access to a division meet the prerequisite nomination requirements.
- Assist with initial division indoctrination of employees after access approval and assist with re-briefing and debriefing as required.
- Review and process all proposed foreign travel itineraries of division personnel.
- Conduct pre and post-travel briefings/debriefings.
- Assist with the evaluation of foreign travel trends for division personnel.
- Receive/forward reportable information on division personnel to the Security Manager, Senior Global Security Manager or their designee.

- Must be aware of present-day security issues.
- Knowledge of the other security disciplines, including information security and physical security.
- Ability to work in a team
- Ability to balance and prioritize work.
- Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills. Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Hands-on working knowledge and experience in DoD security directives, Instructions, Manuals and computer systems.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- 3+ years of proven security experience with BS or BA in a security or business-related field.
- Strong demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with DoD security directives, Instructions, Manuals and systems.
- Experience with the handling of Personal Identifiable Information (PII).
- Experience in the preparation of DD254 forms.
- Active SECRET level security clearance with the ability to gain additional access and a Top-Secret level clearance within one-year.
- Standard first shift hours, off-shift support as needed to accomplish tasks. 40+ hours per week.
- Travel - Approximately 5%
