Position Overview

The EHS Competency Assurance Specialist supports EHS and related training development and tracking, computer applications such as databases, SharePoint, metrics, compliance assurance, and assists in the organization of EHS management system documentation and training files.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Competency Assurance program. Identify training requirements and certifications for personnel.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of training materials and assessments, including computer-based training.
  • Develop and document the assessment procedure and tools for Competency Assurance.
  • Support others that will administer and evaluate Competency Assurance and related training within their scope of responsibility.
  • Support Competency Assurance checks for major contractors.
  • Deliver classroom style training to support Competency Assurance and EHS requirements.
  • Actively contribute to development /training of peers to support Competency Assurance.
  • Support training tracking, recordkeeping, and development of related systems and procedures.
  • Develop reports for training metrics and competency records management.
  • Assist in maintaining documentation, data, and records related to safety programs, risk control programs and respective training, including but not limited to: Competency Assurance, LOTO, PPE &corrective actions.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of EHS related experience. Applicable education and certifications will also be considered.
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, health and safety or related scientific/engineering discipline preferred.
  • Experience with EHS training, related data, and written programs.
  • Good understanding of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to document procedures and deliver EHS training/communication services.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage concurrent projects.
  • Computer literate; high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) databases, and EHS training data.
  • Personal qualities of flexibility, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Interpersonal skills to build and maintain rapport, confidence and influence with peers and teammates both in person and remotely. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • CPR and First Aid trainer certification is beneficial.
