Position Overview

SubCom is an industry leader in undersea optical communication systems dedicated to delivering world class, high-quality products and services to our customers. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer Intern to join our team and contribute to our continuous improvement efforts.

This position will assist in creating improved reporting of Quality metrics across Subcom; including Marine Services, Manufacturing and Research & Development. The role will suit an individual who is pursuing a career in quality, engineering or business. The position reports to the Director of Corporate Quality and Reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends and areas for improvement in product quality and services.
  • Report Writing: Prepare detailed reports on quality issues, findings, and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • PowerPoint Presentations: Create and deliver presentations to communicate quality metrics, analysis results, and improvement plans to stakeholders.
  • Quality Assurance: Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance processes and procedures.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and customer service, to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute ideas to enhance product quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Engineering, Math., Quality Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of quality engineering principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Minitab).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to create clear and effective PowerPoint presentations.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
