The Technical Writer supports development of content around products and services; and as a technical editor of written documentation provided by subject matter experts. The Technical Writer will work with different technical teams (e.g., technical operations and managed services, security, storage, development) and project management to develop, write, and edit technical documents in accordance with customer requirements. The Technical Writer will use expertise and research to gather technical and background information for inclusion in the proposal response. The Technical Writer will be a part of a team performing system and services analysis, design, and documentation to support the response.

Primary Position Tasks:

  • Research, analyze, and identify relevant company proposal materials, applicable boilerplate, and intelligence that might be adapted to the writing assignment.

  • Review content for compliance, quality, and accuracy

  • Manage and coordinate data calls to and from SMEs, internal contributors, or subcontractors

  • Establish business relationships with key contributing organizations throughout the company, including marketing, business development, sales, operations, and other as required

  • Work with manager to escalate issues, review workload, and provide suggestions for continuous improvement to process or writing/editing tools or resources

  • Review technical information prepared by other staff members for clarity and content

  • Research highly technical subject matter, organize information from multiples sources, and write technical content that is comprehensible to a wide audience of readers

  • Keeps up to date on relevant competitive solutions, products, and competition in order to effectively write clear, persuasive content based on experience, knowledge, research, or input from SMEs

  • Write clear, persuasive content based on knowledge, research, or input from SMEs

  • Other business duties as assigned

Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:

  • 2 years of technical writing experience.

  • Expertise in assessing technical information and writing content suited to a wide audience

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite of applications (Word, Project, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio)

  • Experience learning, using, and writing about applications, software, services, and technology

Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:

  • Experience in effectively writing and editing to include formatting/editing

  • Bachelor's degree

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Professional technical communication skills

  • Strong working knowledge of style guidelines and industry practices

  • Superb project management, time management, interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent writing, editorial and proof-reading skills

  • Knowledge of MS Office suite (MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Adobe Illustrator or Visio, and use of review tools including track changes and comments features

  • Strong desire and proven ability to learn, use, and write about applications, software, services, and technology

Essential Elements (Mental; Physical; Equipment used):

This position is an office position that requires remaining in a stationary position for multiple hours throughout the workday.

This position requires the ability to continuously communicate with co-workers throughout the day utilizing Red River approved and/or provided communication tools and equipment.
