Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Accounting Intern to join our Finance & Accounting team in Chicago. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to learn the fundamentals of corporate accounting in a fast-paced, project-based manufacturing environment. You'll assist with daily accounting operations, support month-end close, and gain exposure to cost accounting, inventory management, and audit preparation. This is an ideal role for a student eager to apply classroom knowledge to real-world business challenges while learning from experienced professionals.
Key Responsibilities
• Support monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting tasks
• Assist in managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
• Prepare and review bank reconciliations and support general ledger maintenance
• Contribute to cost accounting and inventory management efforts across global projects
• Participate in audit support, internal controls, and compliance documentation
• Help maintain organized financial records and ensure data integrity across systems
• Collaborate with team members on process improvements and cross-functional initiatives
Qualifications
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
• Familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, or similar platforms) is a plus
• Detail-oriented with solid analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-first mindset
• Interest in manufacturing operations and cost structure is preferred
