Responsibilities
- Develop and write CNC programs for 3, 4, and 5-axis machines based on engineering drawings and specifications. Responsible for programming of mechanical part consistent with the quality requirements established by drawings and fabrication/inspection plans.
- Select cutting tools, machine speeds, and feed rates; write instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine.
- Analyze and evaluate computer test-runs and prove-outs to determine if specifications are met; determine procedural and programming logic to improve proficiency and accuracy of CNC program.
- Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality control to ensure accurate and timely production.
Qualifications
Preferred Education / Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline.
- 7+ years of related discipline; or
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to above
Preferred Knowledge / Ability:
- Strong working knowledge of comprehensive 3D CAD systems, such as Mastercam or NX, including 3D modeling and analysis of geometry
- Solid knowledge of manufacturing operations
- Strong knowledge of a variety of CNC machines and controllers
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, and proportions to practical situations.
- Strong written and verbal communication
