Overall Summary:
The Supervisor of Operations leads a team to fulfill job orders efficiently and profitably. This role is responsible for achieving production objectives and developing a comprehensive understanding of team dynamics to optimize performance and output.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The person in this role will manage a team of approximately 12-15 Material Handlers and Shipping/Receiving Coordinators. The supervisor will recruit quality employees to provide high-quality customer support.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Meet department measurement goals, including waste reduction, billable hours, utilization improvement, spoilage, and rework.
- Ensure employee adherence to company safety policies.
- Oversee daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory control to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and inspection of warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors) in compliance with safety and operating standards.
- Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counts and audits; investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Enforce housekeeping and 5S standards to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse environment.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics to meet shipping schedules, minimize delays, and optimize dock utilization.
- Train employees on warehouse management systems (WMS), standard operating procedures, and safe material‑handling practices.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities related to layout, material flow, space utilization, and labor efficiency.
- Maintain an active presence on the production floor; foster a cooperative and harmonious working environment; maximize employee morale and productivity.
- Establish innovative, cost-effective, and proactive methods to serve customers and meet goals.
- Schedule staff according to workload and productivity goals; adjust workflow, team responsibilities, and shift inventories, as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal environmental, safety, and health regulations.
- Work closely with department manager in identifying an effective staffing level plan.
- Assist department manager in identifying and evaluating equipment to meet strategic initiatives.
- Comply fully with company human relations’ policy and practice. Confer with Human Resources management to assure employee issues are addressed appropriately.
- Coordinate with HR on pertinent matters such as recruitment and selection, placement, compensation, training, performance reviews, promotion, discipline, termination, etc.
- Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.
- Coach and develop direct reports.
- Promote safety as a number one priority.
- Perform daily payroll functions; make applicable corrections, enter and manage PTO for direct reports.
- Perform other (or other related) duties as applicable or assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

Fundamental English reading and writing skills.

Microsoft Office Suite proficiency; Foundation experience a plus.

Bilingual is a plus.
Education and Experience:
-
High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in manufacturing field or business a plus (will consider comparable industry experience in lieu of education).

3-5 years’ manufacturing/production experience.

2+ years’ proven supervisory experience in a manufacturing capacity, preferably with a background in the direct response industry.

Previous participation on a safety team and/or other safety training preferred.

Lean manufacturing and/or quality control training preferred.
- Experience in the warehouse department strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to work consecutively 1st Shift, 8 hours, Monday-Friday.

Ability to provide after-hours support when needed.

Ability to maintain an active physical presence on the production floor.

Standard climate-controlled production environment; exposure to loud noise (PPE is provided).

Ability to lift, carry and push/pull up to 35 pounds.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, pivot, crouch, squat, kneel, and stoop for up to 8 hours.

Upper extremity motion requirements: fine motor movements, pushing/pulling with arms, grasping and pinching.

Lower extremity motion requirements: reaching.
