Overall Summary:

The Equipment Technician performs set-ups, and maintains, adjusts and troubleshoots lettershop production equipment. They ensure that deadlines and quality and quantity goals are met.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to policies, procedures and practices.

  • Identify and report unsafe conditions including injuries and property damage.

  • Use safe work techniques; including lifting and confined space entry; use proper PPE.

  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance and safety checks; troubleshoot basic mechanical breakdowns.

  • Use hand tools effectively to maintain, set-up and repair equipment; adjust mechanical parts using hand and machine tools.

  • Identify issues and perform repairs quickly; escalate as necessary.

  • Set up, maintain, adjust and troubleshoot all production equipment.

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance.

  • Document all mechanical activities.

  • Assist in training new mechanics when required on set-up and operation of equipment.

  • Observe all company rules, regulations, safety procedures, and housekeeping standards.

  • Maintain a safe and clean work area throughout the shift.

  • Perform other (or other related) duties as applicable or assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

  • Ability to read and write English and understand oral and written communications.

  • Mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to work as a team player; enthusiastic attitude.

  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to read, understand and execute job set-up instructions.

  • Basic computer proficiency preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • 1+ year of previous experience with mechanical troubleshooting experience on automated manufacturing equipment.

  • Previous experience in print or direct mail equipment preferred.

  • Lean manufacturing and/or quality control training preferred.

  • Previous participation on a safety team and/or other safety training a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, rotating 3 or 4 days per week including weekend rotations.

  • Ability to work overtime when needed.

  • Standard climate-controlled production environment; exposure to loud noise (PPE is provided).

  • Ability to lift, carry and push/pull up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, pivot, crouch, squat, kneel, and stoop for up to 12 hours.

  • Upper extremity motion requirements: fine motor movements, pushing/pulling with arms, grasping and pinching.

  • Lower extremity motion requirements: reaching.

  • Pre-employment post-offer comprehensive assessment required.
