THE ROLE
The R&D Chemist primarily scope is to perform R&D projects in accordance with new products and materials development requirements. This role requires the utilization of scientific skills in designing, undertaking, and analyzing information from controlled laboratory-based experiments, and production trials. The candidate will have the opportunity to follow the latest research, and work with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Conduct literature reviews via scientific academic papers, industry research to progress our foundational knowledge in our key technology areas to further develop intellectual property resulting in breakthrough, improved, innovative new products
- Manage the design, synthesis, formulation, and materials characterization for the development of new high-performance products and materials
- Coordinate and/or participate in pilot and factory trials on new products, and improved technologies. This will include hands-on involvement in trial and initial production runs and troubleshooting as needed.
- Deliver presentations and make sound recommendations to the R&D senior leadership team based on strong scientific experimentation and data analysis
- Collaborate effectively with manufacturing personnel, vendors, and suppliers to build understanding of opportunity areas to help drive insights to accelerate projects
QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD/ Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry, or Materials Science or equivalent
- Preferably 3 to 5 years’ relevant working experience in polymers, thermosets, coatings, or composite materials
- Knowledge and/or experience in material property and performance characterization using mechanical, physical, electrical and chemical testing/analysis
- Demonstrated experience in applying statistical techniques to evaluate data and make decisions, with the ability to problem solve using a scientific yet practical approach
- PCB-related experience and Mandarin fluency is advantageous
