Isola, an industry leader in global materials sciences whose mission is to improve life by enabling innovation in electronic products, is hiring a Quality Engineer at our Ridgeway, SC location.
THE ROLE
The Quality Engineer effectively provides engineering support to lead company efforts in implementing new or improved systems to prevent re-occurring customer complaints, reduce non-conformities and breakdowns in the quality system.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Ensuring products and processes meet quality standards and customer requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead efforts to dramatically reduce customer complaints.
- Handle day to day internal and external quality issues.
- Set up systems to improve plant metrics.
- Establish systems to create a continuous improvement infra structure throughout the company.
- Drives change, removes barriers and promotes creativity, bias for action.
- Lead company efforts in implementing new or improved systems to prevent re-occurring customer complaints and breakdowns in the quality system.
- Review, approve, and monitor all plants performance against customer quality standards.
- Provide quality engineering support to the plant.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and management.
- Apply statistical methods/analysis to improve process capability, reduce process variation and achieve breakthrough performance.
- Lead problem-solving efforts to improve and eliminate waste-reduce cost of poor quality.
- Provide technical and engineering support on an ongoing basis to process teams and other areas as needed.
- Monitor, teach and coach production workers who are involved in the Quality System.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures in accordance with policies and local, state, and federal laws.
- Adhere to all quality standards per Isola policy.
- Participate in training, events and projects.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Military Standards.
- ASQC, CQE or CQM Certification recommended.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- B.S. degree in Engineering and 3-5 years experience in Quality Assurance.
- ASQC certified Quality Engineer.
- Certified Lead Auditor or Black Belt is desired.
- Prefer direct experience in Engineering /Manufacturing/Quality management in High volume, PWB or High Performance Material's Operations.
- Candidates will have knowledge of quality management principles and quality engineering.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
