Product Compliance Manager - Suzhou

GENERAL PURPOSE: for the Product Compliance Manager
1. Lead Isola’s product compliance function by overseeing compliance of Isola’s products with the applicable chemical legislation and product regulations on a global basis. Act as the primary point of contact for external customers and internal groups for product content inquiries. Develop and utilize internal systems to review, maintain and respond to regulatory and customer driven product content inquiries in a timely and consistent manner.
2. Support/advise Isola R&D and New Product Development (NPD) teams through all stages of product development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop and maintain applicable product testing and global compliance processes, included but not limited to:
o Annual product and new product testing
o Build and maintain database for Isola’s product compliance responses
o Compliance declaration from raw material suppliers
o Legislation tracking and gap analyses
o Product compliance declarations
o Product SDS generation and updates
· Review and prioritize incoming product content inquiries and surveys. Work with colleagues in EHS, R&D and Sales & Technical Services in coordinating timely responses.
· Evaluate if customer inquiries/requests require an NDA and work with Legal department to determine if a current NDA is in place.
· Keep abreast of regulations worldwide for changes and newly added regulations.
· Assist in tracking product testing results for customer required tests and for compliance with regulatory requirements.
· Develop content and provide training in product compliance to other functions (e.g., R&D, Sales & Technical Services, Supply Chain groups).
· Review chemical legislation compliance status of new and modified raw materials. Coordinate raw material supplier declaration with Supply Chain. Perform due diligence review.
· Support R&D’s effort to reduce potential business impact that may result from new or updated legislative initiatives.
· Build system to track relevant chemical legislation and product regulations (e.g., TSCA, REACH, national chemical control laws and industrial standards, IMDS from automobile industry, etc.). Proactively communicate potential issues that may arise from proposed new regulations and lead effort to address gaps.
· Establish processes and procedures for managing SDS’s including periodic review, translation and distribution.
· Ensure that processes and procedures are documented and kept up to date.
Cross-Functional Interaction
· Research & Development: advise on current and potential future regulations of raw materials that may be considered in New Product Development (NPD). Assist and advise NPD teams through all NPD stages, including generation of product compliance and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for new products.
· Sales, Marketing, Technical Service & Quality: assist in responding to external requests for product compliance data, completing surveys, maintaining Isola products in industry product databases (i.e., IMDS and similar).
· Supply Chain: support efforts to review new raw materials and suppliers with respect to raw material product compliance questions. Maintain database of raw material SDS’s.
· Legal: develop and maintain product compliance data, support product stewardship initiatives and corporate social responsibility commitments. Confirm external communications are performed under NDAs where needed, and assist in protecting Isola’s intellectual property.
What Success Looks Like:
· Isola introduces new products that comply with current regulations and restrictions, and considers potential future regulations/restrictions during the NPD process.
· Isola proactively addresses new or changing regulations that might affect existing products, ensuring no disruption to sales efforts.
· Isola is seen as very responsive by customers requesting PSPR data; industry segment databases include Isola products where applicable, and balance the needs of product data disclosure with Isola’s intellectual property.
· Isola has efficient documented procedures and practices streamlining product compliance.
QUALIFICATION – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR LICENSING
· Bachelors degree in a relevant field, i.e., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, etc.
· Minimum of 6 years of relevant industry experience
· Knowledge of various product content regulations, restrictions and reporting requirements, i.e., REACH, RoHS, TSCA, CA Prop 65, IMDS, IPC1752, etc.
· Understanding of printed circuit materials is beneficial

· Ability to build systems and processes to timeliness and quality of responses and ensure that knowledge is captured for use by others
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK CONDITIONS
· Some travel will be required
· Ability to work in laboratory environments, handling materials and chemicals related to the manufacture of copper clad laminates and prepregs
