Description

Job Summary:

The Bindery Operator- Box Maker is responsible for performing manual and machine operation duties in a fast-manufacturing environment. This role primarily operates Pack size box-making equipment to produce cardboard and corrugated boxes used for packaging and shipping. The equipment produces a variety of box types in multiple sizes and quantities and are used for packing custom kits as well as inventory for our clients. Responsibilities include box making machinery, assembling materials, performing quality checks, and supporting daily production to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

Shift Hours: 7:00 am - 4:00 pm

Job Description:

  • Equipment operations and maintenance for carton maker as well as the carton gluer
  • Loading corrugated into the carton maker, unloading and organizing raw stock and maintaining par levels for raw stock
  • Working with remote Pack size engineers to troubleshoot and solve issues
  • Performs preventative maintenance on machinery
  • Maintaining accurate metrics
  • Make recommendations to improve efficiencies (i.e. size, style, or stock grade)
  • Operate a Forklift to carry pallets with blank stock and printed paper from loading area to Press area, and from Press area to Bindery.
  • Operate box-making and cutting equipment safely
  • Inspect finished boxes for correct size and quality
  • Stack, package, and prepare boxes for storage or shipment
  • Work with team members to meet daily production goals
  • Assist with other production or warehouse tasks as needed
  • Review the quality of the product continuously during operation to meet specified job requirements
  • Maintain quality and production records to provide specified information on the job
  • Follow safety rules, maintain a clean work area, and contribute to safety goals by maintaining a clean, clutter-free workplace, report potentially unsafe conditions and ensure that the department meets and exceeds safety requirements
  • Acquire the job ticket and review for specifications or special instructions that may impact the operation or setting up the machine
  • Prepare, machine set-up, operate, maintenance of all components of the respective bindery equipment to produce product meeting the quality and quantity limits established
  • Review the quality of the product continuously during operation to meet specified job requirements
  • Maintain quality and production records to provide specified information on the job
  • Contribute to safety goals by maintaining a clean, clutter-free workplace, report potentially unsafe conditions and ensure that the department meets and exceeds safety requirements
  • Meet productivity and quality standards by completing work in timely and accurate manner according to the schedule
  • May instruct others in technical and mechanical operations of equipment.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on machinery
  • Cleans up and keeps work area neat and orderly.
  • Works overtime as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), four plus years of relevant industry experience or 520 hours as an Imagine temporary employee along with manager’s approval to hire full-time
  • Basic computer skills including email, basic mouse, keyboard, and menu navigation
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurement
  • Ability to communicate/understand basic written and verbal instructions
  • OSHA Forklift Certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION

  • 1 plus years of experience working in printing, manufacturing, distribution, and/or fulfilment

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate/understand written as well as oral instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions including those dealing with dimensions and quantity.
  • Ability to apply written instructions to machine set-up.
  • Strong knowledge of folder operation and set up practices.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions.
  • Demonstrate a positive safety attitude.
  • Knowledge of the operation and function of the bindery equipment and machinery.
  • Must be able to cooperate with co-workers and supervisor.
  • Reliability through attendance, punctuality, and attention to workstation.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to visually inspect all work for defects and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and stooping.
  • Manual dexterity for repetitive work.

Salary Description
