Sr. Variable Digital Prep

Job Summary:
Analyze customer projects to develop variable print templates utilizing data management, artwork prep and scripting skills to meet customer needs. Build workflows to support efficient processes that accommodate customer content and maximize production capabilities.
Job Description:
- Develop advanced variable print templates merging customer artwork with data files.
- Resolve incoming artwork and data file issues using defined preflight process.
- Address project design needs for optimized printing on planned output devices.
- Confirm that design meets current USPS regulations when applicable.
- Prepare artwork and data for incorporation with variable template.
- Develop imposition strategy based off production plan.
- Compose PDF audit files to proof artwork, data mapping and programing.
- Incorporate customer requested corrections and changes.
- Compose print ready files for planned output devices.
- Analyze and resolve press issues as needed.
- Partner with Sales and Customers to develop complex variable print programs.
- Develop program structure to meet sustainable production needs.
- Build automated workflows to support repeat projects.
- Partner with Dev Ops to develop tools and automation using variable software.
- Validate template accuracy through a code review process.
- Coordinate the release and training of new variable print project templates.
- Address daily schedule needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Minimum Qualifications of Position:
- Associate degree or High school diploma and equivalent experience
- 5+ year experience doing art prep work in print industry.
Preferred Qualifications of Position:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 8+ years’ experience in printing industry
- 4+ years of experience in scripting
Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook, Excel and Internet applications
- Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably Monarch),
- BCC Mail Manager, Quadient Inspire, SQL, Adobe Creative Suite
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Ability to visually inspect all work for defects.
- Manual dexterity for repetitive work.
- Frequent Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
