Manager, Global Telecom Procurement and Lifecycle

Remote/Hybrid, near Atlanta, GA, Stamford, CT or New York, NY

Role Responsibilities

  • Reports directly to the VP of Network Architecture including direct involvement with Finance, Sales Operations/Solutions Architects, Transmission Operations, and Engineering departments.
  • Plans and leads all Telecom related procurement projects, programs or strategic planning for the assigned work streams related to Telecom capacity and public network and cloud services.
  • Management of a Telecom services portfolio including colocation, WAN and MAN infrastructure and associated local access and long haul services.
  • Account for all Telecom services in the portfolio, manage service provider procurement relationships and contracts that flow through the department via Operations, Sales or Engineering requests in the FiberTracker application.
  • Provide Telecom quotes, price negotiation, and lifecycle of quotes and service orders. Maintain Telecom reports on all sales requests (an initial quote, inquiries, completed orders and disconnects) utilizing FiberTracker application and associated documentation.
  • Manage and maintain FiberTracker application, bug tracking/fixes and feature requests, and train on its proper use and functionality.
  • Liaison with the AP & Finance Department regarding Telecom service orders, invoices and vendor disputes, invoice payment approvals and A/P coding and tracking.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of facilities within Encompass’s Global footprint, as well as create, issue and receive technical documentation, including LOA/CFA to clients, internal project teams and service providers as needed.
    • Able to travel between all US-based facilities on an occasional basis.
    • Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

  • Plans and leads a key project, program or strategic plan for the Telecom work streams
  • Achieves success through leadership and motivation of other Business Unit professionals
  • Management of Telecom work streams and portfolio
    • Leads a team of technical and/or other professionals in all BU’s.
    • Accountable for annual cost reduction targets in cooperation with other BU personnel
    • Manages regional or local relationships; may work on components of global deals
  • Management of a key business unit sourcing priority for all Telecom products
  • Manages all aspects of supplier performance and execution
  • Major Responsibilities
    • Maintains and improves operational quality, cost control and efficiency
    • Ensures operational excellence and customer satisfaction metrics are met
    • Manages resolution of commercial business issues with service-providers
    • Sourcing Strategy development and on-going evaluation for key BU product suppliers
    • Drives cost-reduction initiatives for key products & ownership of supplier pricing process
  • Administration of supply base within the assigned work streams to
    • Maintain Annual Count
    • Track expenditure
    • New Supplier Approvals
    • Engage supply base to keep them motivated and engaged towards major initiatives
  • Actively manage and champion key procurement initiatives as assigned

Required Experience

  • 7 years of related telecommunications procurement experience in a Broadcast and Media setting or working with Broadcast and Media clients.

Required Skills, Education and/or Certifications

  • College Degree or equivalent work experience in telecommunications procurement.
  • Operations experience of at least 5 years in or with the Broadcast and Media business.

Preferred Skills, Education, and/or Certifications

  • Strong knowledge and experience with all relevant Microsoft Office365 products, especially MS Excel, CoPilot, OneDrive and Teams. The ability to generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports from Excel that will be used for tracking inventory and cost containment efforts.
