Description
ECI is seeking a Buyer with operational and manufacturing experience to support MRG in Norwood, MA. In this role, the buyer will be responsible for supporting plant production requirements including supplier management, local cost improvement and functional support for operations with suppliers including PPV reporting, spot buys, supporting implementation of commodity strategies and focusing on supplier continuous improvement.
In this role, you will:
- Initiating purchase orders, buying merchandise, and managing inventory (perform inventory cycle counts)
- Expedite high priority Purchase Orders & issue orders to suppliers
- Generates Overdue Reports, Follows up with Suppliers regarding delivery issues
- Manage suppliers on a local basis to support plant operations
- Support Materials organization with spot buys and expediting following an agreed upon escalation process
- Supplier contact for Purchasing related issues
- Consults with vendors, catalogs, online sites to obtain and compare prices and specifications
- Works in conjunctions with Accounts Payable in research of vendor invoice issues such as price discrepancies, shortages, and returns
- Develop and implement local cost savings and value improvement projects with knowledge and support of Commodity Directors
- Work with suppliers on continuous improvement projects to improve materials flow including perfect order compliance (part quality, quantity, packaging, paperwork, invoicing, etc.)
- Execution of Engineering Changes
- Prepare reports and statistics using computer software
- Perform other manufacturing related tasks as may be assigned
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- Minimum of 3 years of operational purchasing or buyer experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales and Operations.
- Experience effectively negotiating and influencing others
- Experience reading blueprints and understanding technical specifications.
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
- Previous experience in an office and or warehouse support position
- Experience with ERP/MRP helpful, but not required
- Intermediate level MS Office - Excel, Word, Outlook

- Solid financial analysis skills
- Good proficiency in English both written and oral.
